Letter mailed to National Review by John Gilman, in an attempt to call attention to SCF conduct. The letter went unpublished, but it was a pretty good letter. Note the reference to their recent article:
Dear NR,
The plight of the Li family, detailed in your July 20 issue, is not unique, nor confined to urban areas. Less than two months ago my own family was savaged by CPS and sheriff's deputies. After a public kindergarten teacher reported marks on our daughter's bottom from a spanking, deputies kicked in the front door of our home. They roughed up and arrested my wife, charging her with felonious child abuse. Then they forcibly removed our daughter, finally returning her to us after we "volunteered" to undergo counseling.
Our entire family, neighbors, and friends have been thoroughly and needlessly terrorized. None of our three young children will again trust police. Our kindergartener has nightmares of being taken and never returned. My wife faces the horror of a felony trial. Our income, community involvement, clean criminal history, and loving children provided no protection against the jack-booted thuggery of zealous deputies and CPS workers. I strongly encourage your readers to write their state and federal legislators on this issue. The madness simply must end!
Sincerely,
John Gilman
